Job overview

  • Responsibility. Head of Security responsible for for 10 Thermal plants and about 60 Transmission substations, stores & offices geographically spread pan India. Total manpower employed was about 65 On- roll officers and approx 950 Off- roll agency guards.
  • Security Strategy & Roadmap. Formalized Security function roadmap with clearly established short term and long term goals and ensured effective cascading across the Business. Lead the design and implementation of organization wide strategic initiatives/ APEX projects and spearheaded the change management programs of the function. Planned and implemented optimization of 100+ agency guards and about 10+ on-roll officers saving Revenue expenditure of approx 350 Lacs INR.
  • Security Technology & Automation. Reviewed the maturity of existing systems in the Security function and ensured incorporation of latest technology and best practices such as Perimeter Intrusion detection systems, applications such as GENETEC & Automated Material Movement process, visitor management systems, equipment and introduced Data Analytics to include prediction and forecasting models in Physical security, project management and assisted in coal operations.
  • Quantification of Risk and Performance. Institutionalized risk assessment frameworks addressing varied types of Security automation system and infrastructure vulnerabilities. Evolved a methodology for calculating 'as is' site score and 'to be' - end desired state score to calculate the gap and thereafter drive continuous improvement. Devised a scorecard metric to quantify performance of the Security teams at various sites, adopted as a standard across the group.
  • Crisis management. Reviewed the crisis response plans of all the sites and ensured readiness to varied types of crises, natural and man-made. Held several mock crisis drills to test crisis response mechanisms and ensure operational compliance to the established standard operating procedures.
  • Intelligence & Vigilance. Developed high level contacts with critical decision makers in community, public administration, law enforcement, and such other organizations, to enable faster intelligence gathering related to Physical security threats. Revamped the vigilance mechanisms across the business, to ensure readiness to face probable threats.
  • Governance Framework & Compliance. Finalized the Security governance framework aligned to the overall Security strategy and operating model.
  • Audit & Reviews. Provided guidance in the formulation & deployment of Security Audit framework. Institutionalized a system of cross-location audits. Closely monitored Audit observations and signed off remedial action plans.
  • Process Excellence. Identified process gaps in the Business Security processes and led process excellence initiatives and addressed them to drive efficiency.
  • Capability Enhancement & Capacity Building of Manpower. Drove a performance-driven culture in the team – Set goals, reviewed performance and provided feedback to ensure a motivated and committed team; Finalized the performance ratings of the team. Took lead in designing training and development interventions and mentoring initiatives by identifying training needs at the site level.
  • Contract Partnership Management. Proactively engaged with four security agencies providing security manpower. Evolved a scorecard system of evaluating performance objectively. Ensured morale of agency manpower by making sure that salaries credited on time and equipping them with necessary gear and equipment.

Joined the Adani Group in May 2020 and served as Head of Security for Adani Enterprises Limited and Head of Centre of Excellence from May 2020 to April 2021.

Responsibility. Responsible for enhancing security processes and increasing cross-functional integration with other departments. Additionally, I exercised oversight over the Executive Protection Team, providing security cover to the Promoter and his family. I was responsible for securing the Adani Corporate Headquarters housing the Apex leadership and over 3000 employees, Adani Township & Real Estate Company, and two major Adani Defense sites.

  • Prepared and obtained approval of the Group Security Operating Model.
  • Revitalized the Adani Security Training School, prepared and implemented the annual training program across the group and drafted the ASTS operating philosophy.
  • Rolled out the Standards and Guidelines for Security Infrastructure and Automation document for the entire group.
  • Prepared and shared handout for dealing with violent mobs and disturbed people at sites.

  • Liaison & coordination with Indian Embassies Abroad, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of External Affairs for the coordination of Indian Army Training Teams deployed overseas in seven countries in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, CIS and the IOC region.
  • During Apex Level conferences at Army Headquarters, coordination of Security with several agencies during attendance by Defense Minister, Defense Secretary to Government of India and Chiefs of Indian Army, Air Force and Navy was also ensured.
  • Served as the Movement Control Officer in the UN. Was responsible for managing operations of Passenger and Cargo movement at Khartoum Airport, Sudan. Coordinated security aspects with Airport staff and rendered assistance to personnel from various nationalities in the mission.

Resource Optimization. Colonel (General Staff) Planning at Corps Headquarters, Srinagar, Brigade General Staff Officer Grade 1, Hyderabad.

  • As the Colonel (General Staff) Planning at Corps Headquarters, Srinagar during the Uri Incident and post Surgical Strike, was responsible for preparing the roadmap for development of Security and administrative Infrastructure with a budget of approx 200 Crores.
