Overview of the Continuous improvement:


US Tax:
We encountered challenges in helping our users understand US income tax withholding due to the absence of an effective macro. However, I worked closely with the tax team to resolve this issue. Following the implementation of the solution, we have seen a significant reduction in the time to resolution (TTR) for income tax withholding inquiries.


India Tax:
I noticed that many hosts from India were requesting TDS 16 forms. Previously, our process lacked clear steps in the dedicated workflow, leading us to email the India Tax Team without fully investigating the requests. To address this, I collaborated with the India Tax Team and suggested integrating additional steps into the workflow to ensure thorough inquiry before escalating the queries.


Deletion DSR:
In account deletion cases, if there are any open cases associated with the account, we need to close them first before proceeding with the deletion. However, we lacked a direct way to contact the scaled operations team to close these cases. I took ownership of the issue, collaborating with the scaled operations team to develop a process for handling such cases. After implementing this solution, the ticket handling time was significantly reduced.

  • Prior to my current role, I worked as a Community Education Support Ambassador, providing assistance to US-based hosts and guests with reservation-related inquiries.
  • I have also contributed to various teams, including the Resolutions, Video Inspection, and India Host Acquisition Teams. In the Resolutions Team, I supported US hosts and guests with issues like cancellations, alterations, refunds, and more. In the Video Inspection Team, I worked alongside US hosts to verify their listing amenities through Zoom video calls. With the India Host Acquisition Team, my focus was on encouraging non-Airbnb hosts in India to list their properties on the platform.
  • In 2021, I transitioned to the Regulatory Response Team, where I’ve spent the last 4 years specializing in US tax inquiries. This experience has helped me gain a deep understanding of US income tax laws and related forms, such as 1099-K, 1042-S, 1099-MISC, and 1099-NEC.
  • I’ve also been managing inquiries about transient occupancy taxes (TOT) and assisting US hosts with their questions on the matter.
  • Additionally, I’ve handled tax-related issues for Canada, India, and Mexico, along with responding to DSR-related queries.
