Credit assessment officer tasked with meeting the responsible lending obligations of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (NCCP Act). The NCCP Act applies to credit products that are regulated under the consumer credit regime—that is, products provided to individuals (referred to as ‘consumers') for personal, domestic and household purposes or for the purchase or improvement of residential investment property. Purpose restricted to only Purchase of property for PAYG customers.
Under the responsible lending obligations, my responsibilities are to:
1. Conduct reasonable inquiries about the consumer's requirements and objectives.
2. Make reasonable inquiries about the customer's financial situation;
3. Take reasonable steps to verify the consumer's financial situation; and
4. Make an assessment about whether the proposed credit contract or consumer lease is ‘not unsuitable' for the consumer (based on the inquiries and information obtained).
5. Document all the assessment notes in Retail Lending System for future reference.
